Edward Hagger Born About 1763, Therfield and his Descendants Edward Hagger was the ancestor of a considerable number of people who have shown an interest in the Hagger On-Name Study including myself (Peter Hagger). The Edward Hagger we are featuring here married Sarah Reynolds in 1789 at Therfield, was one of two cousins, both called Edward. The other Edward Hagger married Ann Ward also in 1789 at Therfield and appear to disappear completly after their marriage. What we do not know is who were the parents of the featured Edward as two brothers Thomas and George both had sons Edward in about 1763. What we do know is that the parents of Thomas and George were Wiliam Hagger and Martha. William was born about 1693 in Kelshall and his parents were Richard Hagger and Elizabeth. So whilst we cannot show a continuous lineage we do know that all the descendants of Edward actually go back to Richard Hagger who was buried at Therfield in 1724. Although we cannot be sure it appears Edward and Sarah had six children although we only have details of five of them. Of these Martha born in 1797 at Therfield died as an infant. The other four are Thomas born in 1790, John in 1793, William in 1798 and Henry in 1804; we have traced the families of all these children and currently we are building the family trees. This is all very much work in progress and the page will be updates as soon as possible Updated April 2021
